ARA----------------------------A tragic incident stemming from a land dispute in Sobhnath ke Bathan village, under the Jagdishpur police station area of Bhojpur district, has left the entire region shocked. A former Home Guard jawan, who was critically injured during a clash on Monday—part of a long-standing land dispute—passed away while undergoing treatment.

According to reports, a dispute between two parties regarding the ownership rights of a *kattha* of land turned violent on Monday. While the dispute had been ongoing for years, tensions escalated on Monday, leading to a physical altercation involving sticks and clubs. Nandji Singh, a 65-year-old former Home Guard jawan, sustained critical injuries in the attack; he was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Dayanand Singh, Laxman Yadav, Dhanji Yadav, Pintu Yadav, and Chanamuni Devi were also injured in the clash and are currently undergoing treatment.

On Tuesday, the day after the incident, the outrage of the family and villagers erupted when the deceased's body arrived in the village following the post-mortem examination. Demanding justice, the agitated crowd blocked the Bihiya-Piro State Highway near Nayaka Tola. Protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and appropriate financial assistance for the victim's family. Traffic remained disrupted for about an hour due to the blockade, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.

Upon receiving the information, the Jagdishpur police promptly arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control by assuring the villagers that appropriate legal action would be taken. Recognizing the gravity of the matter, the police took swift action and arrested a total of five accused individuals from both sides. Three of them have been detained in connection with the murder case, while two have been detained regarding the assault. The deceased is survived by a family that includes three sons and two daughters; his wife had passed away earlier. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
