YOUNG WOMAN COMMITTED SUICIDE BY CONSUMING POISON

ARA--------------------------A young woman died after consuming poison on Tuesday morning in Asawan Tola village, under the Jagdishpur police station area, following a romantic affair. The incident caused a stir in the village and surrounding areas. The deceased has been identified as Khushbu Kumari (18), daughter of Ramashankar Gond, a resident of Asawan Tola village.

Her father, Ramashankar Gond, stated that she had been involved in a romantic relationship with a neighbor, Ankit Singh, for a year. She had previously eloped with him on May 10 but returned eight days later. A village council meeting (*panchayat*) was held regarding the matter, during which she declared that she wished to live with her father; the issue was considered resolved at that point.

However, on June 4, she eloped with the same young man again. Three days later, she reached the Bihiya police station. When the Bihiya police informed her father, he said he would come the following morning. He subsequently arrived at the Bihiya police station on the morning of June 8 and brought her back home.

Amidst this, she consumed poison on Tuesday morning. Her condition became critical, and her family rushed her to a private hospital in Jagdishpur; she was brought home after receiving treatment but subsequently passed away. The family then informed the local police.

Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and had a post-mortem examination conducted at Sadar Hospital. Meanwhile, the deceased's father, Ramashankar Gond, has alleged that his daughter died after consuming poison due to her romantic involvement with the neighbor, Ankit Singh. The police are currently investigating the matter.

The deceased was the eldest among four sisters and one brother. Her family includes her mother, Poonam Devi; sisters Khushi, Tuntun, and Jyoti; and brother Jai Mangal. The incident has left the family devastated. His mother, Poonam Devi, and all other family members are inconsolable.
