PATNA------------------------The Bihar government has entrusted a new responsibility to Jeevika Didis (women self-help group members) to make the e-registration process easier and more accessible in rural areas. Through a joint effort of the Prohibition, Excise and Registration Department and Jeevika (Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society), literate Jeevika Didis will now go from village to village to promote e-registration and raise practical awareness about it. They will be known as Digital Didis or Sakshama Didis (Empowered Didis).
According to departmental officials, Jeevika Didis will be selected for this purpose soon. They will be given special training in computer operation, internet usage, filling out online forms, uploading documents, and paying e-registration fees. The selected Didis will be provided with computers, printers, and Wi-Fi facilities. This scheme will be launched soon as a pilot project.
The department has decided to prioritize more than 1,000 Jeevika Didis who have completed matriculation, intermediate, computer diploma, or other technical education. These Didis will not only create awareness about e-registration but also about other important services such as marriage registration and adoption deed registration.
Currently, there are approximately 1.5 crore Jeevika Didis working in the state. There are Jeevika offices in every block, where 805 Didis are employed. In addition, 270 Didi Empowerment Centers are operating in rural areas, where documents such as residential certificates are being issued. This initiative will make it easier for villagers to understand e-registration, and the registration process will become faster and more transparent.
