• MLA Mehta was reportedly traveling from Bihariganj in Madhepura to Patna. According to eyewitnesses, the car was speeding. When the tractor suddenly appeared, the driver was unable to control it, resulting in a massive collision.

At the time of the accident, five people, including the MLA, were in the car. It was a matter of relief that the car's airbags deployed immediately after the collision, averting a major accident. MLA Mehta suffered a leg injury, but his condition is reported to be stable. The other passengers also suffered minor injuries.

Upon receiving the information, the Mufussil police station arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. Station Head Amarjeet Pratap Singh stated that preliminary investigations indicate high speed and the sudden appearance of a tractor as the cause of the accident. Traffic has been restored after the damaged vehicles were removed.

The MLA was immediately taken to a private hospital in Khagaria in another vehicle, where, after receiving first aid, he was referred to Patna for better treatment.

Locals say that if the airbags had not deployed, the accident could have been even more devastating. This incident has once again raised serious questions about road safety, speeding, and nighttime driving vigilance on NH-31.
