CRACKDOWN ON ILLEGAL EXTORTION

BHABHUA------------------------ The police have once again taken major action against illegal extortion at the Integrated Check Post in Mohania, Kaimur. Acting on the instructions of Kaimur SP Shikhar Chaudhary, a joint team comprising the Traffic DSP and Mohania police station personnel conducted a raid late Tuesday night and arrested four personnel red-handed while they were extorting money from vehicle drivers. The arrested individuals include SAP personnel Gangasagar Singh, Bachchu Prasad, and Maniram Sharma, along with Home Guard jawan Sunil Kumar Gupta. The police recovered ₹83,890 in cash and four mobile phones from their possession.

All of them are being interrogated, and a detailed investigation into the matter is underway. It is noteworthy that this is the second major action taken at the Integrated Check Post within the last month. In a previous raid, nine people—including four SAP personnel and five private assistants—were arrested. With this latest action, the total number of arrests in this matter over the past month has risen to 15. These repeated arrests have raised serious questions regarding the functioning of the check post. Surprisingly, the alleged extortion racket continued despite the deployment of officers across all three shifts. Consequently, the supervisory oversight of the Check Post In-charge (ADTO) has also come under scrutiny. Mohania DSP Gopal Krishna stated that four individuals were arrested with ₹83,890 in cash during an operation at the integrated check-post. Those arrested include three SAP (Special Auxiliary Police) personnel and one Home Guard jawan. All of them are being interrogated, and further legal action is underway.
