ARA--------------------------------A joint team comprising members of the CPI(ML) and the All India Kisan Mahasabha visited the fields of Banahi, Dubawal, and Bankat to assess the crop damage caused by a recent fire. The team inspected the affected areas and interacted with the victims to gather information regarding their plight. The farmers reported that the crops of over 200 farmers, covering an area of more than 600 bighas, have been destroyed. In addition to the crop loss, two motor pump borewells, two or three transformers, and several trees were also burnt in the blaze.
During the interaction, the farmers stated that their fields typically yield 14 quintals of wheat per bigha. They demanded that their compensation be calculated and disbursed based on the current rates fixed by the government, and further requested that fodder be made available for their livestock.
The CPI(ML) and the All India Kisan Mahasabha stand in solidarity with the farmers. They have demanded that the government and the administration provide compensation to the affected farmers as soon as possible. Furthermore, they have called for the deployment of two fire tenders at every block headquarters, the replacement of all burnt borewells and electrical transformers, and the immediate provision of two quintals of rice to each affected farmer; failing which, a widespread agitation will be launched.
The inquiry team included CPI(ML) Central Committee member Raju Yadav; State Committee member and former MLA Chandradeep Singh; Assembly In-charge Harendra Singh; Jay Shankar Prasad; Shahpur Town Secretary Baiju Kushwaha; Vimal Singh; District Councilor Dudul Singh; Saroj Yadav; Damodar Prasad; and local leader Ramayan Paswan, among others.
