PATNA---------------------------The investigation into the infamous NEET student murder case in Bihar has completely shifted. Amidst the state's political turmoil and questions surrounding the police investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its action after taking over the case. On Saturday, a CBI team arrived at Shambhu Girls Hostel in Patna and conducted a thorough search for nearly three hours. The room where the student, a resident of Jehanabad, was staying was thoroughly searched. Late at night, the agency team emerged with four sacks of belongings, causing a stir in the entire area.
It is reported that the student was found unconscious in the hostel on January 6th under suspicious circumstances. She succumbed after battling for life for five days. Initially, the local police maintained it was a case of suicide, but the post-mortem report confirming sexual assault changed the entire scenario. The family clearly alleged rape followed by murder and alleged an attempt was being made to cover up the matter.
Previously, the police arrested a hostel employee and formed an SIT. During the investigation, sperm was found in the student's undergarments, and DNA samples were collected from several people for matching. Questions were also raised about the collection of samples from some relatives during this process. The SIT, considering the student a minor, added sections of the POCSO Act, but the case remained unsolved.
Now, the CBI has registered a new case and begun its investigation. The agency is connecting the links not only with the hostel but also with the hospitals where the student was treated. She was first taken to Sahaj Hospital, then Prabhat Memorial Hospital, and then transferred to Medanta Hospital on January 10, where she died. The CBI team will examine all doctors and medical records.
This case is no longer just a criminal incident, but rather a fight for justice and a failure of the system. All eyes are on whether the CBI investigation will uncover the truth behind this mysterious death.
