PATNA--------------------------An attempt to escape the cold proved fatal for a family in Bihar. Sleeping with a brazier lit inside the room in Chhotki Singhi village of Ara Nagar police station area became the cause of death for an innocent child and the devastation of the entire family. 12-year-old Bajrangi Singh died on the spot due to suffocation from the smoke, while his parents and younger sister are in critical condition.

The deceased, Bajrangi Singh, was a resident of Ghanghar village in Krishnagarh police station area. In the accident, his father Chandrabhushan Singh alias Bunty Singh, mother Pooja Singh, and 9-year-old sister Paridhi Singh were found unconscious. Mother Pooja Singh's condition is said to be the most critical, and she has been referred for better treatment after primary treatment.

According to family members, the entire family had gone to Bageshwar Dham on December 27 and returned home on Saturday after performing prayers. Due to the intense cold, Bunty Singh bought tamarind wood from the market. After eating dinner, the entire family went to sleep after lighting a brazier in the room.

Around one o'clock at night, the younger daughter Paridhi complained of chest pain. She was given medicine and put to sleep. Shortly after, Pooja Singh complained of severe pain in her hands. Bunty Singh tried to relieve the pain by massaging her hands, but in the meantime, the child's condition worsened. He called a friend and asked him to arrange a car, after which he doesn't remember anything.

Meanwhile, late at night, when the relatives kept knocking on the door and received no response from inside, they panicked and informed the Nagar police station. The police arrived at the spot and broke down the door to enter. The scene inside the room shocked even the police; all four people were lying unconscious, and the room was filled with poisonous smoke.

After much effort, Bunty Singh and Paridhi Singh regained consciousness. Following the incident, everyone was taken to Ara Sadar Hospital with the help of the police, where doctors declared Bajrangi dead. This incident serves as another warning that using a brazier or charcoal in a closed room to keep warm is tantamount to inviting death. A small act of carelessness snatched away the happiness of an entire family.
