PATNA-------------------------Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the Patna Collectorate building on Monday. During this visit, the Chief Minister also took stock of the ongoing developmental works at the Patna Collectorate. The Chief Minister inspected the meeting hall on the fifth floor of the Collectorate building, as well as the offices of the Deputy Development Commissioner (District Council) and the Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar). The Chief Minister also conducted an inspection of every floor of the Collectorate complex.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the construction work for the road being built from Patna's Collectorate Ghat to the Sabhyata Dwar (Gateway of Civilization). The completion of this road will provide convenience to devotees observing the Chhath festival during their rituals. It will also prove beneficial for people who go for morning walks. Furthermore, it will significantly enhance the grandeur of the Collectorate Ghat. The Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the completion of the road construction project connecting Collectorate Ghat to Sabhyata Dwar.

The Chief Minister issued directives to ensure the speedy completion of the Senior Superintendent of Police's office, which is currently under construction within the Collectorate premises. The Chief Minister also inspected the double-decker flyover project. During the inspection, he issued instructions to complete the remaining pending works. He directed that this be accomplished as soon as possible through proper coordination with the Patna Metro Rail Corporation. The completion of these works is expected to significantly improve connectivity with the Metro rail network.

It is pertinent to note that in 2017, during his 'Nishchay Yatra' (Resolution Journey), the Chief Minister had inspected the dilapidated buildings within the old Patna Collectorate complex following a review meeting held in its assembly hall. Given the dilapidated condition of these structures, the Chief Minister had taken the decision to demolish the old buildings and construct a new Collectorate complex on the very same premises. The new Patna Collectorate building has been constructed on a 6.32-acre plot—situated along the banks of the River Ganga—following the demolition of the old, dilapidated structures within the original Collectorate premises.

The new building boasts a total built-up area of 28,388 square meters, which is substantially larger than that of the old Collectorate complex. Within the new Collectorate complex, in addition to the District Magistrate's office, the District Council Office-cum-District Development Building and the office building of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) have also been constructed. Special attention has been paid to environmental considerations during the construction of the new Patna Collectorate building.

The new Patna Collectorate building is equipped with all modern amenities. It features a Water Treatment Plant and a Sewage Treatment Plant. Additionally, a 40-kilowatt solar power plant has been installed. The complex provides open parking facilities for 204 four-wheeled vehicles, along with basement parking arrangements for 240 vehicles. In compliance with an order from the High Court, the pillars from the main building of the old Collectorate have been preserved and displayed on one side of the complex, serving as a testament to the heritage of the historic Collectorate building.

Present on this occasion were the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Deepak Kumar; Secretaries to the Chief Minister, Kumar Ravi and Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh; the Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister, Gopal Singh; and the District Magistrate, Dr. Tyagarajan S.M., among other officials.
