3,544 LITRES OF IMFL SEIZED, TWO ARRESTED

ARA--------------------------The Prohibition and Excise Department has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against the smuggling of illicit liquor. On Monday, the department’s team conducted a raid on the main road at the Bihiya crossroads and recovered approximately 3,544 liters of foreign-made liquor from a secret compartment built into a six-wheeled DCM truck. Two individuals, including the truck driver, were arrested during the operation. The market value of the seized liquor is estimated to be around ₹45 lakh.

Rajnish, Assistant Commissioner of the Prohibition Department, had received a tip-off that a large quantity of foreign-made liquor was being transported into Bihar by truck. Following this, a raid team was formed under the leadership of Inspector Anil Kumar. On October 19, a joint team from the Bhojpur Prohibition and Excise Department and the State Narcotics Control Bureau intercepted and searched a DCM truck (bearing registration number UP86AT-1928) within the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station. During the search, a large consignment of liquor was discovered in a secret compartment constructed inside the vehicle.

According to the department, the haul included 9,792 bottles (180 ml each), 3,744 bottles (375 ml each), and 504 bottles (750 ml each) of 'Imperial Blue' whisky. In total, 14,040 bottles were seized, containing approximately 3,544.50 liters of liquor.
