SASARAM-----------------------A major road accident during the immersion of a Vishwakarma Puja idol claimed the lives of two youths and left several others injured in Sasaram on Friday night.

According to reports, a group of young men from Ramdihra village under Amjhor police station were carrying the idol of Lord Vishwakarma on a tractor towards the Sone River for immersion. Near Ramdihra on National Highway-2C, a truck loaded with gravel collided with the tractor with great force.

The impact was so severe that several youths riding on the tractor were thrown onto the road. Two of them — identified as Ashish Sharma and Ajit Chandravanshi — died on the spot. More than five others sustained injuries, with two reported to be in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Following the accident, an angry crowd gathered at the site and set the truck on fire in protest. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

The tragedy occurred after the traditional worship of Lord Vishwakarma in the village. Locals expressed deep grief over the loss of young lives during a religious occasion. Authorities have urged people to exercise caution during immersion processions.
