ARA---------------------------Two friends from Bihiya in Bhojpur district, who had gone to visit the Union Territory of Ladakh, died after being caught in a landslide. The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Khardung La, under the jurisdiction of the Nubra police station in Ladakh. The two youths had set out for a trip riding the same motorcycle. News of the tragedy caused an outcry among their families, and crowds gathered around their homes.

The deceased have been identified as Abhijit Anand (22), son of businessman Vikas Kumar—a resident of Judge Bazar in the Bihiya police station area—and Sonu Kumar (21), son of Sanjay Prasad—a resident of Khakhoban (near the cycle factory) in Majhauli Panchayat. The two were friends and lived in Greater Noida for their studies; both were pursuing a BCA degree at Galgotias University.

According to their families, the two friends had traveled from Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir by train. Afterward, they set out to explore Leh-Ladakh. They had rented a bike from a travel and tour agency. On Tuesday, they went sightseeing on that very bike. While they were out, a landslide occurred, causing mountain debris and rocks to crash onto the road. Both of them lost their lives after being struck by the falling debris.

Abhijit Anand was the only son of his parents. His father, Vikas Kumar, and mother, Aarti Devi, are in a state of shock upon hearing the news of his death. The family has been devastated by this tragedy. Meanwhile, Sonu Kumar's parents, Sanjay Prasad and Radhika Devi, are also inconsolable with grief. Sanjay Prasad works as a Class IV employee (peon) at the Bihiya Teacher Training College.

Family members stated that the bodies of both young men would first be brought to Delhi by ambulance on Thursday. From Delhi, the bodies would then be transported to Patna. Finally, ambulances would carry the bodies from Patna to their respective ancestral homes in Bihiya. Relatives and acquaintances of both families have begun gathering at their homes following the news of the bodies' arrival.

A wave of mourning has swept through the Bihiya area following the news of the tragic deaths of these two promising young men. Crowds have gathered near the homes of both youths since the incident occurred. Everyone is expressing their grief over the accident and offering condolences to the bereaved families.
