PATNA--------------------------There is great news for elderly, widowed, and differently-abled pension beneficiaries in Bihar. Under the state government's new system, the 10th of every month is observed as 'Bihar Pension Day.' Since today is the 10th, funds will be credited to their accounts. Money will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program organized by the Social Welfare Department. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will transfer an amount of Rs 1,100 to the accounts of over 9.4 million (94 lakh) pensioners across the state via video conferencing. The government has fully streamlined the payment process. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary will transfer a total pension amount of ₹1,100 crore directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries via DBT. This initiative provides financial support to lakhs of elderly citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities across the state. Beneficiaries whose bank accounts are linked to Aadhaar and whose verification is complete will receive the pension amount today.
The Bihar government had significantly increased the social security pension amount. Previously, beneficiaries received ₹400 per month; this has now been raised to ₹1,100. This step was taken with the aim of making the elderly (aged 60 and above), widows, and persons with disabilities self-reliant.
Beneficiaries eligible for the ₹1,100 benefit:
Chief Minister's Old Age Pension Scheme
Bihar Disability Pension Scheme
Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme
Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme
Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme
Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme

To ensure transparency and timely disbursement, the government has implemented a rule to release pensions on the 10th of every month. Additionally, the government has urged senior citizens aged 60 or above who have not yet availed of the scheme to apply immediately. Those whose pension payments have been halted due to a lack of Aadhaar linkage have been advised to complete Aadhaar seeding promptly.
