ARA---------------------------An important meeting of the Jan Sanskriti Manch (Jasam), Ara-Bhojpur unit, was held yesterday (Sunday) at the JP Utsav Bhawan in Nawada, Ara. The meeting focused on discussions regarding Jasam's second district conference, which is scheduled for September 13th. Professor Gopal Pradhan from Delhi will attend the conference as the chief guest.
Speaking about the second district conference of Jasam, Bhojpur, District and State President (and poet-critic) Jitendra Kumar stated that the event aims to strengthen people's culture in support of freedom of expression while energizing literary and cultural activities across the state and country. He noted that rising anarchy, the growing crises faced by the common people, and widespread corruption in Bihar have not only pushed back the struggling masses but have also reduced literature, art, and culture to mere tools for government propaganda, leaving them vulnerable to obscenity and sycophancy. In this context, the Jan Sanskriti Manch conference will provide direction to a culture that stands with the common people.
At the conclusion of the meeting, storyteller Ramyash Avikal read his Bhojpuri story, 'Ingur-Tikuli'. Suryaprakash, Amit Mehta, Sunil Srivastava, Sunil Chaudhary, Suman Kumar Singh, and Vikrant shared their views on the story. The speakers observed that the story effectively portrays the reality within lower-middle-class households. The author has seriously examined the state of a family losing its balance amidst the dynamics involving the mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, and daughter. The mother becomes the cause of familial disintegration by treating her daughter as a daughter while treating her daughter-in-law like a maidservant. The author has critically examined the woman who embodies the complex, dual roles of 'mother' and 'mother-in-law'. The speakers also offered suggestions for incorporating additional aspects into the story. There was a significant turnout of members from the district at the conference. Attendees included poet Suman Kumar Singh; poet and short-story writer Dr. Siddhnath Sagar; poet Sunil Chaudhary; poet and short-story writer Ramyash Avikal; Sunil Srivastava; theatre artist Dhananjay Singh; Anil Verma; Suryaprakash; Amit Mehta; Vikrant; poet Jitendra Vidrohi; and Vrijnandan Singh, among others.
