BHABHUA----------------------------A full year has passed since the high-profile murder of Chandni Devi in ​​Barej village under the Mohania police station area of ​​the district, yet the police have failed to solve the mystery. Distressed by the lack of justice and fed up with the police administration's attitude, the deceased's differently-abled husband has threatened to commit suicide—a move that has caused a stir within administrative circles.

On September 27, 2025, Chandni Devi was brutally murdered by unidentified assailants inside her own home, and her body was hidden in a sack. Although the police initially acted promptly to launch an investigation, the killers remain at large even after a year. This sluggish investigation has raised serious questions about the local police's functioning.

The deceased's husband, Prajapati Mishra, has been making repeated rounds of the offices of the Kaimur SP, Mohania DSP, and local station officials for the past year. He alleges that he provided the police with the names of suspects he believed were involved, yet no concrete action was taken. After facing constant disappointment, he has lost faith in the police and, driven by grief over his wife's death and a desperate plea for justice, has issued a chilling threat to commit suicide.

Responding to the matter, Kaimur Superintendent of Police (SP) Shikhar Chaudhary stated that the aggrieved family had come to meet him recently, on September 24. He has assured that police officials Instructions have been issued to take necessary and strict action.
