ARA---------------------------On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has made special arrangements for free bus travel for women. This initiative by the Corporation will enable sisters to reach their brothers and celebrate the festival of Rakhi without any financial burden. Women will be able to travel ticket-free on approximately 1,075 BSRTC buses from 6:00 AM on August 27 (Thursday) until 10:00 PM on August 28 (Friday). This facility will be available across all categories of buses operated by the Corporation throughout the state, including AC, non-AC, deluxe, PM e-buses, and those under the PPP model. Necessary instructions have been issued to all regional officials to ensure the smooth implementation of this arrangement.

According to the Corporation, over a thousand buses are currently in operation, including those running under the PPP mode. More than one lakh passengers travel on these buses daily, with women constituting nearly half of the ridership. It is worth noting that the Bihar government operates special 'Pink Buses' for women, prioritizing their safety and travel comfort; this service has been warmly welcomed by women.

Transport Secretary Rajkumar stated that, as in previous years, this free travel facility is being provided to women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The objective is to ensure safe and convenient travel for women to visit their brothers and tie Rakhis, without any financial constraints. Additionally, women will be able to travel ticket-free on buses plying inter-district and inter-state routes, as well as on buses used for commuting to offices, coaching centers, markets, or for other purposes on this day.
