Little did a man from Dumraon know, when he left home with the heartfelt desire to seek the blessings of 'Baba Mahakal', that this journey would become the final one of his life. Pappu Chaudhary (40), who had arrived in Ujjain with the hope of visiting the Mahakal temple, passed away on Sunday night following a heart attack. The news of his death cast a pall of gloom over his home in Dumraon. The family, for whose happiness and future he had toiled day and night, is now no longer waiting for his return—instead, they are left awaiting the arrival of his mortal remains. The deceased, Pappu Chaudhary—son of Gulab Chaudhary—was a resident of 'Pati Kurmi ki Gali', near Chhathiya Pokhara in Ward No. 28 of Dumraon town.
He supported his family by working as a mason and contractor. Two days earlier, he had set off for Ujjain accompanied by four or five friends. He must have been filled with excitement for the pilgrimage, but a sudden heart attack on Sunday night brought his life to an abrupt end. Local resident and former municipal councillor Sonu Rai confirmed the incident, noting that Pappu Chaudhary is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a son. His untimely death has left his family devastated, as if a mountain of grief has descended upon them.
For the family, this loss is not merely the sorrow of losing a loved one; it also brings deep concern regarding the responsibilities of the household and the uncertainty of their future. According to Sonu Rai, Pappu’s associates have departed for Dumraon with his mortal remains. It is expected that a wave of grief will sweep through the entire neighborhood upon their arrival. Pappu, who had set out with the aspiration of visiting the Mahakal temple, has departed from this world—leaving behind a profound pain that will continue to ache within his family for a long time to come.
