ARA-------------------------The Bihar Education Department has issued a new directive to all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure discipline, decorum, and a dignified atmosphere in government schools and other educational institutions.

A letter issued by the Director (Administration) of the Education Department on July 20, 2026, states that the department has received information through various channels indicating that previously issued instructions are not being properly followed in some schools. This not only constitutes a violation of departmental orders but also adversely affects the educational environment and the dignity of the institutions.

The department has instructed all DEOs to ensure 100% compliance with all previously issued directives across all government schools and educational institutions within their districts. Specifically, it has been mandated that teachers and non-teaching staff attend school in formal attire during teaching and office hours.

Furthermore, instructions have been issued to prohibit any undignified activity or conduct contrary to educational decorum within school premises and to take necessary action to ensure strict adherence to the guidelines. The department has also directed that compliance be ensured and a report submitted accordingly.

Following this order, formal dress has become mandatory for teachers and staff in the state's government schools. Casual attire, such as jeans and T-shirts, will not be permitted during school hours.
