BUXAR---------------------------The case regarding the broad-daylight murder of Mulayam Singh Yadav on the Samhar-Mahraura road now appears to be entangled in a web of complex familial relationships and a land dispute. A named FIR has been registered against five individuals based on the statement of the deceased's father, Uday Narayan Singh (alias Vakil Yadav).

The named accused include the deceased's paternal aunt's sons (cousins) as well as other members of his own extended family. Consequently, the police face the challenge of not only solving the murder mystery but also determining whether a land feud lies behind the crime or if other factors are involved in this deadly incident.

The named accused include Sonam Kumar (son of Dharmendra Yadav) and Pintu Yadav (son of Rajendra Singh), both residents of Samhar village. Additionally, the FIR names Pankaj Yadav (son of Ramakant Yadav) and Subhash Yadav (son of the late Rampravesh Yadav)—both residents of Bharkhar village—as well as Amarendra Yadav (son of Shyam Lal Yadav), a resident of Nawa Dera village under the Naya Bhojpur police station area. Among them, Pankaj and Subhash (from Bharkhar) are identified as the deceased's cousins, while the two accused from Samhar are also members of his extended family.

However, merely being named in the FIR does not prove involvement; the allegations can only be substantiated following an investigation.

In the complaint submitted to the police, Vakil Yadav alleges that his sister had sold a portion of their ancestral property—measuring one and three-quarter *bighas*—to Shyam Lal Yadav, a resident of Nawa Dera. A dispute over this land had been ongoing for a long time. The father claims that the named accused had been trailing his son, Mulayam, for the past few days. He also stated that the local police were already aware of this dispute. In his formal complaint, Advocate Yadav has leveled several serious allegations regarding the police's conduct. These allegations have yet to be independently verified. It is worth noting that following Mulayam's murder, his father had cited the land dispute as the primary motive behind the crime. Now, with the names of five individuals coming to light, the scope of the investigation has become even more critical. The police must determine the specific roles played by various individuals in the alleged land dispute and verify the veracity of claims that Mulayam was being monitored prior to the murder.

Apart from the land dispute, the possibility of illicit relationships playing a role in the murder is also being discussed. Sources indicate that this angle is being investigated, although no concrete evidence has been made public so far. Consequently, it would be premature to conclude that this was the motive for the murder. The police now face the challenge of clarifying whether the crime stemmed from a land feud, a personal dispute, or a combination of both.

Following the broad-daylight murder, the police are conducting an investigation based on evidence recovered from the scene and other available clues. According to police sources, a scientific investigation is underway covering several aspects. Officials state that steps will soon be taken to identify and arrest those involved in the killing. At present, despite an FIR being registered against five individuals, the true motive and the full conspiracy behind the crime remain unclear. All eyes are now on the police investigation. Will the trail of Mulayam's murder lead from the land dispute to those close to him, or will the investigation reveal an aspect that alters the entire course of the case? The answer to this will only be found through further police investigation and evidence. In this regard, Dumraon's in-charge SDPO, Sameer Kumar Singh, stated that in this matter A scientific investigation is underway; the criminals involved in the incident will soon be apprehended.
