RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA-------------------------A dignified farewell and felicitation ceremony was held on Thursday evening at the Green Haven Resort in the Chandwa area of the city. The event was organized to mark the transfer of the outgoing Superintendent of Police (SP) of Bhojpur, Mr. Raj. Dignitaries present on the dais included the new District Magistrate of Bhojpur, Manesh Kumar Meena; the new SP, Awadhesh Dixit; Sadar SDO Shipra Vijay Kumar Chaudhary; Civil Surgeon Dr. Shivendra Kumar Sinha; PP Rana Pratap Singh; and District Public Prosecutor Manik Kumar Singh. The proceedings were conducted by dentist Dr. Prateek Kumar.

In his address, the chief guest and outgoing SP, Mr. Raj, expressed his reverence for the sacred land of Babu Kunwar Singh. He remarked that truth and honesty reside within the people of Bhojpur. Describing his two-year tenure as satisfactory, he expressed gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity to serve society. He emphasized that the role of Superintendent of Police is inherently one that involves working amidst challenges and pressures—responsibilities he strove to discharge with utmost dedication.

Sharing his experiences, Mr. Raj noted that the public and the police personnel were the two central focal points of his work. While issuing key directives to the police force, he stressed the importance of making every possible effort to protect the innocent during investigations. He also emphasized the need to keep complainants regularly updated on the status of their cases to ensure transparency in the justice process.

Discussing interactions with the public, he stated that the police must listen seriously to citizens' grievances and work towards their prompt resolution. He remarked that when the police listen patiently to the public, it alleviates the people's mental burden and strengthens their trust in the administration.

Expressing concern for the mental and physical well-being of police personnel, he urged officers to understand the sentiments of their subordinates and provide them with all possible support. He advised the force not to limit themselves merely to their official duties but to play an active role in various welfare initiatives. He emphasized that a spirit of service is essential for establishing better coordination between the police and the public.

The outgoing SP acknowledged the significant cooperation received from media personnel during his tenure. The Peace Committee also remained neutral throughout. He remarked that the times ahead are quite challenging; therefore, police personnel should improve their working style. Future policing must be conducted with an understanding of the 'Gen Z' mindset; only then will you all rise to the occasion.

District Magistrate Manesh Kumar Meena stated that the coordination between the district administration and the police would continue as before, with continued emphasis on teamwork. Development work is progressing in Bhojpur with everyone's cooperation, and such support is expected to continue.

The new Police Captain, Avadhesh Dixit, noted that the local team has performed well. He expressed full confidence that this momentum would be sustained. Sadar SDO Shipra Vijay Kumar Chaudhary mentioned that the outgoing SP had provided immense support regarding the maintenance of law and order and other matters.

During the ceremony, the outgoing Superintendent of Police was honored with a traditional shawl (*ang-vastra*), a bouquet, and a memento. The farewell event was attended by Sadar SDPO-1 Rajkumar Sah, Sadar SDPO-2 Ranjeet Kumar Singh, Piro DSP Kanhaiya Kumar, Traffic DSP Manoj Kumar Sudhanshu, Town SHO Devraj Rai, and Nawada SHO Vipin Bihari, along with various Circle Inspectors and Station House Officers (SHOs).
