THE INCIDENT OF SHAMBHU HOSTEL IS A REMINDER OF SEX RACKET

PATNA-------------------------The case of Shambhu Hostel in Patna is not just a single incident, but a reminder of the serious reality of the entire sex racket and sexual exploitation. Today, the situation in Patna's so-called hostels and lodges is such that boys and girls live nearby or on different floors of the same multi-story building. Luxury cars parked outside these hostels and lodges day and night has become a common sight.

The most shocking thing is that the CCTV cameras installed in these places function like a miraculous surveillance system. The operators keep a close eye on the girls' every move, not for their safety, but to identify where each girl has erred and how to exploit that lapse to their own ends.

In the name of modernity, compromises are being made to meet growing material needs, and hostel and lodge operators try to capitalize on these human weaknesses. The legal recognition of live-in relationships and mutual consent in the name of adulthood has also deeply hurt Indian traditional values.

Young people from rural areas and district headquarters who migrate to Patna or other major cities for studies and live in hostels, lodges, or rented houses often become unable to adhere to restraint, tradition, and social norms. The lax oversight of parents and family ultimately leads to major and tragic incidents.

It is a deeply sad and painful truth that our collective boundaries are shrinking. It does not seem possible to restore the altered social fabric to its old, mythological norms through mere individual or small efforts.

The time has come to initiate a comprehensive, profound, and intellectual revolution to protect and preserve culture and traditions, otherwise future generations will be forced to pay a heavy price.
