BUXAR---------------------------Rumors of child kidnapping in the sub-divisional area show no signs of abating. Rumors of child kidnapping in the sub-divisional area show no signs of abating. On Saturday evening, residents of Rajai Mishra Lane in Dumraon detained a woman on suspicion of being a child kidnapper. The locals apprehended the woman and handed her over to the local police. However, the police investigation proved the public's allegations to be baseless. It was revealed that the woman was a resident of a different locality within Dumraon itself, and several individuals identified her, confirming that she was not a child kidnapper.

It is noteworthy that prior to this incident, in several police station jurisdictions across the sub-division, various individuals have been detained by the public on suspicion of child kidnapping and handed over to the police; however, none of these cases have yielded any confirmation of such crimes. Just recently, near Garhi Dera within the Koransaray police station area, locals detained a *Panda* (priest) from the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi and handed him over to the Koransaray police. Similar incidents have also occurred in several other police station areas, including Sikraul and Brahmapur.

Confirming the incident, Sanjay Kumar Sinha, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Dumraon, stated that the woman was released following interrogation. He appealed to the public not to pay heed to any rumors and urged them not to subject strangers to physical or mental harassment by mistaking them for child kidnappers. The SHO added that both the Bihar Police and the Buxar Police have previously issued advisories urging the public to stay away from and disregard rumors regarding child kidnapping.
