ARA---------------------------What would you do if you discovered that what you had heard was entirely untrue—or simply incorrect? Don't scratch your head in confusion just yet; the news is of such a nature that it is bound to leave you utterly stunned. Just a few days ago, two candidates laid claim to the top spots in the UPSC results; however, when an investigation was conducted, the truth of the matter was revealed. A strikingly similar situation has now unfolded regarding the "Mrs. India 2026" crown. It has come to light that the very crown to which a daughter of Bhojpur laid claim does not, in fact, belong to her at all.

Dr. Apoorva Verma—the daughter of Bhojpur who made headlines in newspapers and dominated social media after claiming the title of "Mrs. India 2026"—now faces allegations that she is not the actual winner, but rather the runner-up of the 2026 pageant. These allegations have been leveled by none other than the true winner of "Mrs. India 2026" herself: Preeti Rajput Sharma.

This revelation, which surfaced via a video circulated on social media, has simultaneously cast a shadow of doubt over the credibility of three distinct spheres: the world of glamour, social media platforms, and the mainstream media. It is worth noting that the "Miss and Mrs. India 2026" pageant was recently held in Ahmedabad, featuring participants from various states across the country. This glamorous event was organized by VPR Entertainment. According to official records, the "Mrs. India 2026" crown was awarded to Preeti Rajput Sharma, while Apoorva Verma was named the runner-up. However, the narrative that began to unfold immediately after the contestants stepped off the stage completely turned the entire affair on its head.

Upon returning from the competition, Apoorva Verma began presenting herself as "Mrs. India 2026" across her various social media accounts. This news spread like wildfire throughout regions such as Arrah and Bhojpur. People embraced it as a moment of immense pride, feeling as though a daughter of Bhojpur had conquered the nation. A flurry of congratulations ensued, and social media journalists—along with local YouTubers—began arriving to conduct interviews; all of them ran stories identifying Dr. Apoorva as "Mrs. India 2026." The matter did not stop there; in a race to be the first to break the news, even some major media platforms jumped into the fray, disseminating the story without verifying it through official certificates or confirming it with the organizers. This marked the pivotal moment where the truth was left behind, and sensationalism took the lead. Today, this incident raises a direct question regarding the media's responsibility: has going viral become the sole objective of journalism? This tendency to fabricate stories out of thin air and serve them up to the public casts a shadow of doubt not only on the credibility of a single individual but on that of the entire media fraternity.

When this news reached the actual winner, she herself was taken aback. When she attempted to set the record straight, she was the one labeled as a "fake" on social media. Subsequently, Preeti released a video in which she displayed her crown and certificate, unequivocally clarifying that she was, in fact, the official winner. She stated in no uncertain terms that such false propaganda had tarnished the dignity of her title. Furthermore, while demanding a public apology from Dr. Apoorva Verma, she issued a warning that she would initiate legal proceedings if an apology was not tendered.

However, the list published on the Instagram page and website (www.vprentertainment.com) of the organizers—VPR Entertainment—clearly indicates that the winner is Preeti Rajput Sharma, while Dr. Apoorva Verma is the 1st Runner-up. Additionally, a photograph of Ashu Verma Chaubey, proudly wearing her crown, is posted alongside her name as the winner of the "Mrs. India Classic 2026" title. The names of the "Miss India" winners are also listed within this same document. Despite this, the confusion spreading across social media has reached such an extent that the line between truth and falsehood has become completely blurred.

In an effort to get to the bottom of this matter, we spoke with the organizer, Vidya Kabra. She stated, "The list of winners is available on our Instagram account and our website. Whatever anyone claims in the media does not constitute proof; the only valid proof is the official information that we have released." He also stated that, just as every competition typically yields three winners, the same applies here: a Winner, a 1st Runner-up, and a "Classic" winner—the latter falling within the Under-40 category.

This matter is no longer merely a dispute over a crown. It reflects the reality of our times—an era in which a single post, a video, or a few unverified reports can completely overturn the truth. The question at hand is not simply who the real "Mrs. India 2026" is, but rather whether the media will re-evaluate its responsibilities or continue to erode public trust in its relentless pursuit of sensationalism. It remains to be seen whether this entire saga will conclude with an apology or ultimately find its way to the courts.
