SECOND FOUR LANE RAIL BRIDGE TO BE BUILT IN KOELWAR

ARA------------------------Preparations have intensified for the construction of India's second four-lane rail bridge in Koilwar, located in the Bhojpur district of Bihar. Under this ambitious project, facilities will be created to allow three trains to pass simultaneously—a development expected to bring about a revolutionary transformation in rail traffic.

The East Central Railway has drafted a proposal for this project and submitted it to the Railway Board, where it currently awaits approval. The estimated cost of this project is reported to be approximately ₹3,500 to ₹4,000 crore.

The new rail bridge will be constructed parallel to the existing Koilwar Bridge. Currently, this route features only two rail lines, resulting in heavy congestion and pressure on train operations. Under the new plan, line capacity will be expanded, thereby facilitating smoother movement of trains.

The construction of this bridge will alleviate congestion on the Howrah–Patna–DDU (Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Junction) rail route. Furthermore, it is expected to lead to improvements in both train speeds and operational efficiency.

This project will not only provide significant relief to passengers but also play a pivotal role in strengthening the entire railway network.
