ROAD SAFETY MISSION FROM JUNE 1

SASARAM--------------------------The continuously rising number of road accidents and fatalities in the district has sparked serious concern. In light of this, the Rohtas Police are now set to launch a well-planned road safety campaign across the entire district. The campaign is scheduled to commence on June 1st.

Rohtas SP Roshan Kumar stated that if one were to identify the single most formidable problem facing the state's most educated district today, it would undoubtedly be the fatalities resulting from road accidents.

"The statistics are so alarming that it feels as though death is performing a macabre dance on our roads. No one remains untouched by this tragedy. Even police personnel and journalists are losing their lives or suffering permanent disabilities. The examples are so numerous that one's capacity for empathy risks becoming numb," the SP remarked.

The SP acknowledged that while the police, the administration, and the media have previously conducted awareness and enforcement drives, the results achieved thus far have fallen short of expectations. He stated that it is now imperative for all pillars of society—particularly the police and the media—to work in a coordinated and sustained manner.

In light of the alarming surge in recent disturbing incidents, the Rohtas Police have decided to execute this campaign with "full force." Commencing on June 1st, this campaign will entail: Strict action against speeding, drunk driving, and driving without a helmet or seatbelt. Identification of "black spots" (accident-prone areas) and coordination with the administration to implement necessary improvements. Awareness programs in schools and colleges, alongside continuous public awareness drives conducted in collaboration with the media.

The SP has appealed to the general public to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, emphasizing that the police have now adopted a "zero-tolerance" policy.

An immediate reduction in road-related fatalities. This report will be updated once the detailed framework of the campaign is officially released by the Police Headquarters.
