Among those who filed their nominations today were Sonu Rai, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate backed by the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan), and Kanhaiya Prasad of the Janata Dal (United)—JD(U)—backed by the NDA. Additionally, Niranjan Kumar Rai filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate.

ARA--------------------------A total of three candidates filed their nomination papers for the 2026 by-election in the Bhojpur-cum-Buxar (Bihar) Local Authorities' Constituency. Among those who filed their nominations today were Sonu Rai, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate backed by the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan), and Kanhaiya Prasad of the Janata Dal (United)—JD(U)—backed by the NDA. It is noteworthy that, so far, a total of four candidates have filed their nomination papers. The nomination process is being conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, strictly in accordance with the scheduled timeline. It is pertinent to mention that April 23 (Thursday), 2026, is the last date for filing nominations. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 24 (Friday). The deadline for the withdrawal of candidature is April 27 (Monday). Polling is scheduled to be held on May 12 (Tuesday), 2026. Voting will take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The counting of votes will be conducted on May 14 (Thursday), 2026.
