PATNA------------------------Bihar's Education Minister stated that a SOP for granting female teachers 730 days of child care leave will be issued soon. During this period, monthly salary will be ensured. The government will also seriously consider the issue of transfer of female teachers.

Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar made major announcements in the Legislative Council on Friday, providing significant relief to female teachers. The government has prepared a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for granting 730 days of child care leave (CCL) in schools and has promised to issue an official order within the next 15 days. The government states that this step is aimed at protecting the rights of female teachers and bringing transparency to the leave process. Improvements to maternity leave pay: The system for salary payment during maternity leave has also been changed. Previously, female teachers received a lump sum upon returning from leave, which caused financial difficulties. Now, under the new system, they will be paid monthly. The department has already issued a Special Operations (SOP) in this regard to ensure timely payments. During a discussion on transfers in the House, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi suggested that female teachers should be posted in their home districts to avoid the hassles of traveling to distant locations. The Minister described this proposal as positive and said the department would seriously consider it. Strictness on irregularities Meanwhile, the government has also adopted a strict stance regarding irregularities in the purchase of benches and desks in schools. Action has been taken against those who do not submit AC and DC bills, and if necessary, FIRs will be filed. Now, a change has been made in the procurement process and it has been decided not to conduct it through the District Education Officer (DEO). The government has clarified that if irregularities are found in the audit, the culprits will not be spared and weekly reviews will be conducted.
