QUESTIONS RAISED REGARDING BEHAVIOUR OF OFFICIAS

ARA-------------------------Serious questions are being raised regarding the conduct of certain officials within Bihar's Electricity Department. Do they possess the authority to enter someone's home and disconnect their electricity supply without any prior notice or permission? If a consumer has an outstanding electricity bill, a prescribed legal procedure exists to address this—such as issuing a notice, levying a fine, or initiating lawful proceedings.
However, when an FIR is lodged without concrete evidence, or when officials forcibly enter a home to disconnect the supply, it constitutes not only a violation of civil rights but also appears to be an action falling outside the bounds of the law.
Ironically, some of the very individuals entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining order are themselves found to be complicit in acts such as electricity theft. Under such circumstances, it is only natural for discontent and mistrust to grow among the general public.
The time has now come for society to become aware, understand its rights, and ensure accountability in such matters. The law must be upheld equally by everyone—whether they are ordinary citizens or government officials.
