POLICE SEIZED 444 LITRES OF BEER

ARA----------------------In a major operation in Bhojpur, the Prohibition and Excise Department has seized 444 liters of beer from two vehicles. One smuggler has been arrested. This police action has created a stir among liquor smugglers in the region.

The Prohibition and Excise Department in Bhojpur district is continuously taking action against illicit liquor. Under the directives of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, raids and vehicle inspection drives are being conducted across the district. In this context, Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition Rajneesh received a tip-off that a large quantity of foreign liquor was being transported from Uttar Pradesh to Arrah via two vehicles. Upon receiving this information, a special team was constituted under the leadership of Inspector Prakash Chandra.

In the early hours of May 26, 2026, during a routine vehicle inspection drive, the operation was carried out near the Mount Litera G School lane intersection in Pakri, located within the jurisdiction of the Arrah Nawada Police Station. During the inspection, 180 liters of illicit beer were recovered from a Toyota Glanza car (BR44R-4122). Additionally, 264 liters of illicit beer were seized from an unregistered Tata Punch car.

During the operation, the driver of the vehicle, Sohail Khan, was arrested. The arrested accused has been identified as a resident of Saripur (Ward No. 36) within the Industrial Police Station area of ​​Buxar district. He has been handed over to the court for further legal proceedings.

A total of 888 cans of Kingfisher Extra Special Strong Beer (500 ml each) were recovered from the two vehicles, amounting to a total volume of 444 liters. The estimated market value of the seized liquor is reported to be approximately ₹5 lakh. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the consignment of liquor was being transported from Uttar Pradesh to Arrah.

The raiding team included Inspector Prakash Chandra, Sub-Inspector Shivam Kumar Jha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajkumar Raja, along with personnel from the Prohibition Police, SAP (Special Armed Police), and the Home Guard. The department has clarified that this campaign against illicit liquor will continue uninterrupted.
