ARA-------------------------Following the granting of the GI tag to 'Pidiya' (Bhojpuri painting), the Aasra Seva Kendra and Bihar Kala Manch are organizing an exhibition of this folk art form at the Bihar Museum, Patna, on July 3, 2026. Selected works by approximately 40 artists—including Kamlesh Kundan, Roshan Rai, Sunita Rai, Anita Pandey, Sushil Vishwakarma, Gudiya Kumari, Rupa Kumari, Rukhsar Parveen, Ramvati Devi, Anjali Tiwari, Moni Kumari, Abhinav Mishra, Sangeeta Devi, Aman Raj, Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary, Kaushalesh Pandey, Khushbu Kumari, Mira Pandey, Priya Pandey, Nirmala Kumari, Shiv Mishra, Shalini Kumari, Nikki Kumari, Madhu Kumari, Natasha Kumari, Ankit Sinha, Priyanka Kumari, Chandrika Kumari, Priyanka Kumari Gupta, Sarda Rekha, and Sangeeta Devi—will be displayed in the Children's Gallery of the museum. This is a moment of immense joy not only for the Bhojpur region but for all Bhojpuri speakers. The artists' past efforts have borne fruit; a ray of hope has emerged, revealing new avenues for self-employment. Artists will now work with renewed enthusiasm to establish a distinct identity for this folk art through their brushstrokes.

Mr. Ashok Kumar Sinha, Additional Director of the Bihar Museum, remarked that the GI tag for 'Pidiya' is a significant achievement, promising a major platform for artists in the future. He noted that Bhojpuri paintings would find markets both domestically and internationally, ensuring the art form gains widespread recognition.

Meanwhile, Mr. Virendra Kumar Singh of the Bihar Kala Manch stated that there could be no greater milestone for the Bhojpur region than Bhojpuri painting receiving the GI tag. He expressed confidence that this recognition would popularize the folk art among the masses and enhance the beauty of homes by adorning their walls. I am Kamlesh Kundan (an artist), and I appeal to all my Bhojpuri brothers, mothers, sisters, and elders. For the first time, a large-scale Bhojpuri painting exhibition is being organized at the Bihar Museum (Bal Bhavan) in Patna from July 3, 2026, to July 7, 2026. Please become a part of this exhibition to help promote Bhojpuri painting and enhance its recognition.
