ARA-------------------------- After learning several lessons in politics, Pawan Singh is set to taste his first electoral success by becoming an MLC. His affidavit reveals that he owns neither a flat nor a bank account in Bihar.
Bhojpuri film superstar Pawan Singh, a native of Bhojpur district (Ara), does not own a house, a flat, or even a bank account in Bihar. The affidavit submitted for the Bihar Legislative Council election shows he possesses significant assets, but most are located in Mumbai and Lucknow. He owns many vehicles, but the majority are registered outside Bihar. Pawan Singh, who became active just before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has seen his earnings drop since entering politics. Despite this, his declared assets have risen from ₹16.74 crore— declared when he contested from Karakat—to ₹19.44 crore, an increase of ₹2.70 crore. The income figures for the same financial year differ between his 2024 affidavit and the current one; such discrepancies typically occur when income tax returns are revised.
The decline in Pawan Singh's earnings after entering politics can be understood by looking at the fluctuations in his annual income. According to the affidavit filed for the MLC election, his annual income over the last five financial years stood at ₹14.91 lakh, ₹33.94 lakh, ₹49.83 lakh, ₹1.38 crore, and ₹93.95 lakh, respectively. His income had risen from ₹14.91 lakh in 2020-21 to ₹1.38 crore in 2023-24. However, his work was affected for several months after he returned the BJP ticket for Asansol and decided to contest from Karakat instead. This resulted in a shortfall of ₹44 lakh in his earnings for the 2024-25 period. Pawan Singh, who initially set out to become an MP, is being rewarded for his patience; the superstar is now set to become an MLC on a BJP ticket.
The houses and flats owned by Pawan Singh are located in Mumbai and Lucknow. He has been operating with Lucknow as his base for quite some time. He owns four flats in Mumbai and two in Lucknow, with a combined current value of ₹7.73 crore. He also possesses land in Bihar, including approximately one acre of agricultural land in Ara, as well as two non-agricultural plots in Patna and Ara. Additionally, he owns two commercial plots in Ara. The market value of his immovable assets exceeds ₹13 crore.
Pawan Singh’s movable assets amount to ₹6.44 crore, comprising cash, bank deposits, vehicles, and jewelry. He holds three bank accounts in his own name and two in the name of his film production company, 'Maa Amma Films,' with total deposits of ₹1.64 crore; these accounts are operated from Mumbai and Lucknow. He owns six vehicles—including a Land Cruiser worth ₹2.68 crore—with a total value of ₹3.83 crore. Of these, one car is registered in Ara, three vehicles in Lucknow, and one scooter in Mumbai; the registration number for the sixth vehicle is pending.
Pawan Singh also carries a debt of ₹2.25 crore, as he is currently repaying loans taken for his house and vehicles.
Despite owning assets worth ₹19.44 crore, Pawan Singh has outstanding liabilities totaling ₹2.23 crore, comprising two home loans and two auto loans. Regarding legal matters, six cases are pending against him; four relate to violations of the election code of conduct, while the remaining two involve charges of physical abuse and fraud, respectively.
