ARA--------------------------Today, certain individuals occupying high constitutional offices are engaging in mere politics of theatrics. Through photo shoots featuring themselves on bicycles, motorcycles, e-rickshaws, tempos, buses, trains, or even on foot, an attempt is made to convey a message to the public that they are conserving diesel, petrol, and gas in the national interest.
However, the very next day, those same long convoys—comprising dozens of vehicles—and the old order reappear.
In some instances, while there is a pretense of traveling by bus, an entire convoy can be seen trailing right behind.
All of this is proving to be nothing more than a charade—much like what unfolded a few days ago in the name of the cleanliness drive.
Photo shoots were staged with brooms in hand; garbage was deliberately strewn across paved floors, only to be subsequently picked up to deliver a message of cleanliness.
The entire country was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF); yet, even today, the actual reality of our villages and towns remains hidden from no one.
My only contention is that the nation and society require "reality," not "reels."
We must remain wary of impostors and performative politics, for the genuine development of the nation and society is simply not possible at the hands of such individuals.
This country has, in the past, been served by Prime Ministers, Chief Ministers, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and public leaders whose words and deeds were in perfect harmony.
They possessed substance and authenticity—not mere theatrics.
For the sake of the nation's and society's future, we need to pause, reflect, and cultivate the discernment to distinguish between right and wrong.
Otherwise, society will gradually spiral into the abyss.
