ARA----------------------------A serious crisis of salary payment has arisen before the treasury selected, employed and regular teachers. The salary of employed teachers covered under GOB item is pending for March, April, May - 2026 and the salary of regular teachers covered under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) item is pending for May - 2026. Due to non-availability of allocation for salary payment, employed and regular teachers and their families are facing financial difficulties.
National Mahila Teachers Morcha (NFWT) general secretary Kumari Alka said that more than 90 percent of the teachers in the state have taken personal loans from the bank. Due to non-payment of salaries on time, they are unable to pay the monthly installment of the loan. Due to which their banking credibility is being affected. Besides, the financial burden of late fees and additional interest is also falling on them.
He further said that due to lack of salary, the family and social crisis facing teachers is deepening. Many teachers are not able to provide proper treatment to their elderly parents. There is difficulty in meeting the education, health and other essential needs of children. Due to financial constraints, many teachers are being deprived of fulfilling social and family responsibilities.
Kumari Alka said that due to increasing financial problems, mental pressure on teachers is increasing and their social prestige is also being affected. He raised the question that it is not practical to expect quality education in a state where teachers are not paid on time. When teachers themselves are going through financial insecurity and mental stress, it is natural for it to have an adverse effect on the education system.
He has demanded Bihar Government and Education Department to ensure payment of pending salaries by releasing allocation of adequate amount without any delay. It has also been warned that if the salaries are not paid immediately by providing allotment, then there will be widespread dissatisfaction among the teachers, for which the entire responsibility will be on the education department and the government.
