BHABHUA-----------------------------A tragic incident occurred around 1:00 PM on Monday in Bourayi village, located within the Chainpur block area of the district. A massive fire broke out in a thatched-roof house after sparks suddenly fell from an 11,000-volt power line running near a canal. Fueled by the intense sunlight and dry grass, the fire rapidly escalated into a raging inferno within moments. According to local villagers, the fire spread so swiftly that no one had the opportunity to react or attempt a rescue. In this devastating blaze, two buffalo calves perished on the spot, while dozens of adult buffaloes were caught in the flames and suffered severe burns. The condition of approximately five of these buffaloes is reported to be critical.
Speaking about the incident, Shiv Yadav stated that although significant efforts were made to contain the fire, the scorching heat and intense flames prevented anyone from getting close enough to rescue the animals. He added that only after the ropes tethering the buffaloes burned through were some of the animals able to break free and escape, thereby saving their lives. It is reported that the animals affected by this tragedy belong to Bhanu Yadav and Shiv Yadav. Both families have suffered heavy financial losses as a result of the fire. An atmosphere of outrage and fear currently prevails among the villagers regarding this incident. Locals argue that had the Electricity Department exercised proper oversight and maintenance in a timely manner, such a tragedy could have been averted. Currently, demands are being made to the administration for compensation and assistance to provide relief to the affected families.
