EMPEROR ASHOK BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED

ARA---------------------------The birth anniversary of the great Emperor Ashoka was celebrated at Budhiya Lodge Dhobi Ghatwa, Ara by the Great Chakravarti Emperor Ashoka Janmotsav Samiti, Bhojpur, Ara. In which people from not only Bhojpur district but also from other districts participated and with great enthusiasm passed through Bazar Samiti, Katira Mod, Pakdi Mod, Ramna Road, Town Police Station, Gopali Chowk, Shivganj Mod, Badi Mathiya, Karman Tola, Railway Station and again gathered at Budhiya Lodge where the procession turned into a meeting in which people from different sections highlighted the objectives of celebrating the birth anniversary. In the procession, Emperor Ashoka, who expanded India, was on the front chariot, behind him was his father Bindusara Maurya and again behind him was the chariot of Chandragupta Maurya, the founder of India. The bloodshed in the Kalinga War transformed Emperor Ashoka's heart, leading him to lay down his sword. Influenced by Gautam Buddha, he embraced nonviolence and compassion, and began working for the welfare of not only humans but also animals. He constructed numerous major roads, such as the Grand Trunk Road, planting trees along their sides. He established hospitals not only for humans but also for animals, commissioned numerous inscriptions, and erected Ashoka pillars bearing welfare teachings.

People from all walks of life, especially the Bahujan Samaj, participated.

The request for the construction of an Ashoka Pillar in the Bhojpur District Magistrate's office premises by the members of the Great Chakravarti Emperor Ashoka Birth Anniversary Committee, Bhojpur Ara, has been made. It is hoped that the District Magistrate will soon approve the construction, and the Ashoka Pillar will be erected.
