PATNA---------------------------The movement demanding justice in the encounter case of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari—a resident of Bhojpur, Bihar—is now gaining national momentum. Leaders and advocates associated with the movement announced that a peaceful sit-in protest would be held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 17, marking one month since Bharat Tiwari's death.
The protesters stated that, on this occasion, copies of the nationwide signature campaign would be submitted to the President and the Prime Minister, urging for impartial action regarding this alleged fake encounter case. ...and justice will be demanded. Leaders and advocates associated with the movement shared this information during a press conference held in Patna.
Advocate Anil Mishra, associated with the movement, stated in Patna that neither has the expected relief been obtained from the court in the Bharat Tiwari case so far, nor has the government taken any concrete action that would instill hope for justice in the victim's family. He clearly stated that their movement would continue until strict legal action is taken against the guilty.
Advocate Anil Mishra mentioned that a large-scale signature campaign is being conducted across several states, including Bihar. Once the campaign concludes, copies of all the signatures will be submitted to the President and the Prime Minister in Delhi, and they will be apprised of the public's sentiments and the movement's demands.
During the press conference, questions were also raised regarding the judicial inquiry announced by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. It is worth noting that following the incident, the government had ordered a judicial inquiry headed by a retired judge, and the investigation process has already begun.
Responding to this, Advocate Anil Mishra stated that merely ordering a judicial inquiry is not enough. He argued that if the case involves murder, an FIR should be registered against the concerned police officials under murder charges, and action should be taken in accordance with the law. He alleged that the matter is being unnecessarily prolonged under the guise of an investigation.
Pankaj Tripathi, the convener of the movement, stated that the government had been given sufficient time to take action, yet no concrete results have emerged so far. For this reason, the next phase of the movement is being launched.
He mentioned that appeals are being made to people across villages, cities, and various states to join the signature campaign and make the protest demonstration scheduled for July 17 a success. He emphasized that the entire movement would be conducted peacefully and within the framework of the Constitution and the law.
Convener Pankaj Tripathi announced that the "Veer Shaheed Bharat Tiwari Nyay Sangharsh Morcha" (Brave Martyr Bharat Tiwari Justice Struggle Front) has been formed to carry the movement forward in an organized and effective manner. A total of 18 committees have been constituted under this front. For the time being, the committee dedicated to securing justice—comprising 21 advocates—will remain active. Together, they will strive to ensure justice for Bharat Tiwari and fulfill his unfulfilled dreams. They intend to demand justice in the matter by submitting copies of the nationwide signature campaign to the President and the Prime Minister.
