ARA----------------------------On the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami—the birth anniversary of *Maryada Purushottam* (the Ideal Man), Lord Rama—a grand procession was organized in the town of Shahpur. Held under the aegis of the Shri Ram Navami Puja Committee, Shahpur, the event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of thousands of devotees. With sky-piercing chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and fluttering saffron flags, the entire region appeared steeped in the colors of devotion.

The procession commenced in the presence of local MLA Rakesh Ranjan Ojha, following the performance of traditional rituals and prayers at the Mahavira Sthan (temple) located in Ward-08, Shahpur. The sheer grandeur of this event was evident from the fact that, leading the procession, was a captivating tableau of Lord Rama seated upon a chariot—a sight that drew a surging sea of devotees eager to catch a glimpse. Throughout the entire journey, the singing of *bhajans*, *kirtans*, and verses from the *Ramayana* infused the atmosphere with spiritual energy.

This year's procession featured cultural performances of exceptional quality. Various tableaux presented by artists specially invited from Vrindavan and Banaras served as the main highlights of the event. The *Jhavar* dance performance by the artists left the audience spellbound. A special attraction near the Tedi Gali intersection was a powerful performance depicting Goddess Kali and the *Shiva Tandava* (Dance of Shiva) by the artists, which drew a massive crowd of onlookers. Meanwhile, the procession was efficiently managed by the committee's President Raviranjan Ahir, Secretary Manish Yadav, Treasurer Azad Gupta, and other members.

Starting from the Shahpur Mahavira Sthan, the procession traversed the town's major thoroughfares, including NH-84, Badi Mathiya, Tedi Gali, Chhoti Mathiya, Purani Bazar, Banahi Road, and Sarna-Bharauli Road. As the procession advanced, the general public spontaneously joined in, and the entire locality became saturated with spiritual energy. The scene was such that people climbed onto the rooftops of their homes to shower flowers upon the procession, having waited for hours just to catch a glimpse of it.

Given the intense sunlight and heat, water was sprinkled on the roads at various locations. Local residents and social workers had made extensive arrangements to provide fruits, soft drinks, and lemonade for the devotees. In the afternoon, the weather took a turn; as dark clouds gathered in the sky, a gentle drizzle began, offering the devotees significant relief from the scorching heat.

Security and administrative arrangements remained fully robust throughout the procession. During this time, Sub-Divisional Officer Sanjeet Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Block Development Officer Shatrunjay Kumar Singh, the Officer-in-Charge of the Circle Office, and Shahpur Nagar Panchayat Junior Engineer Jayanandan Chaudhary remained actively present. Regarding security arrangements, a police force led by Shahpur Station House Officer Rajesh Malakar continuously moved alongside the procession, while the administration maintained intensive surveillance of the entire route using drone cameras.

Prioritizing public safety and the prevention of any potential accidents, the Electricity Department had, as a precautionary measure, temporarily suspended power supply in the afternoon; department personnel also remained deployed in the area, maintaining constant vigilance. Thanks to the dedication of the members of the Shri Ram Navami Puja Committee and the cooperation of the local administration, the procession concluded in a peaceful and secure atmosphere.
