ARA-----------------------------Bhojpur Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Mrs. Gunjan Singh today held an important press conference on the "Developed India - Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Mission (Rural): VB-G Ram Ji Act, 2025." The objectives, provisions, and action plans of the Act, passed by Parliament to strengthen employment and livelihoods in rural areas, were discussed in detail.
Ms. Singh stated that this Act is a revolutionary initiative for rural families across the country, giving a new direction to the rural economy. Under this Act, the employment guarantee in rural areas has now been increased from 100 days to 125 days, providing rural workers with assured livelihoods for longer periods.
Highlighting the key features of the Act, she said that it includes the right to unemployment allowance, guaranteed timely payment of wages, and the provision of daily compensation for delayed wage payments. Furthermore, it provides for the freedom to plan at the village level and the creation of a Gram Panchayat plan developed through the Gram Sabha.
Four major categories of work have been identified under the scheme—water security and conservation, rural infrastructure, livelihood promotion, and climate change mitigation—that will form the foundation for holistic development and sustainable livelihoods. Additionally, provisions have been made for departmental integration, transparency, a 60-day suspension of scheme work during agricultural operations, and an increase in the administrative budget limit from 6 percent to 9 percent.
Ms. Singh clarified that all ongoing work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) is safe and will continue uninterrupted. Furthermore, upon full implementation of the VB-G Ram Ji Act, 2025, rural families will benefit from 125 days of assured employment and increased wage rates.
