DELHI----------------------------The Censor Board has given its approval for the release of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer 'Parashakti' on January 10th, as scheduled. However, some changes were also requested for the release.

The Censor Board on Friday gave its approval for the release of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer 'Parashakti' on January 10th, as scheduled. The Tamil film was given a UA censor certificate, but some changes were also requested for the release. 'Parashakti', directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Don Pictures, underwent 25 modifications before receiving the certificate, including cuts, changes and muting of dialogues, as well as removal of visuals. Based on 1960s Madras, 'Parashakti' depicts the tense socio-political atmosphere of Tamil Nadu during the anti-Hindi agitations. It is distributed by Red Giant Movies, which is associated with the DMK political party.

Here are the details of the changes that the Censor Board asked the makers of Parashakti to make:

The Censor Board asked the filmmakers to mute seven phrases containing expletives.

The phrase 'Thee Paravatum' (Let the fire spread) was changed to 'Neethi Paravatum' (Let justice prevail).

The Tamil phrase, 'Hindi En Kanavai Alithathu' (Hindi destroyed my dreams) was changed to 'En Ore Kanavai Hindi Thinippu Erithathu' (The imposition of Hindi burnt my only dream).

The makers muted the phrase 'Hindi Kathukkittu' (Learning Hindi).

The makers were also asked to remove the visuals of burning an effigy named 'Hindi Arakki' (Hindi demon). The phrase 'Hindi Arakki' was changed to just 'Arakki' (demon). The filmmakers have implemented five changes. The board also instructed the filmmakers to reduce the visuals of self-immolation by 50%. They were also asked to reduce the visuals of the massacre in a village, specifically removing scenes depicting the murder of a young mother and the display of corpses.
