CELL TO MONITOR SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

ARA------------------------A special district-level cell has been constituted to monitor and oversee compliance with the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 and the directives of the Hon'ble Supreme Court. A one-day orientation program for this special cell was held today at the Collectorate Hall under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. The program focused primarily on the segregation of waste into four categories at the source and the listing of institutions that generate large quantities of waste. The event commenced with the lighting of a lamp by the Deputy Development Commissioner. Attendees included the District Panchayati Raj Officer, Assistant Disaster Manager, Director (NEP), the District Sanitation Team, Junior and Assistant Engineers and Lab Chemists from the Public Health Division (Ara), the Technical Support Unit Head (Bihar) from 'Water for People', the District Cooperation Specialist, the District SBCC Consultant, the District Project Officer (Namami Gange), and others. Additionally, Executive Officers of all Municipal Councils, as well as Block Development Officers and Block Coordinators from all blocks, participated via a virtual meeting.

At the conclusion of the orientation program, the Deputy Development Commissioner directed that similar orientation programs be organized at the block and panchayat levels to disseminate information regarding the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026 to subordinates.
