BUXAR----------------------------Police from the Naya Bhojpur station have arrested a son—who was fleeing after murdering his mother over a property dispute in Chandi, Nalanda district—on NH-922.
This matricide has shaken the very foundations of relationships and family values. The incident—in which a mother was murdered out of greed for her own property by the very son she had raised and nurtured—has left society in a state of shock. Following the incident, the absconding accused son was apprehended thanks to the prompt action of the Buxar police. The Naya Bhojpur police arrested him on NH-922, near Barka Dhakaich. ..swiftly apprehended. The incident occurred at Narasanda Market, located within the jurisdiction of the Chandi Police Station in Nalanda district. The deceased, 55-year-old Jilvi Devi, was sleeping inside her home along with her five-year-old grandson.
It is alleged that late on Wednesday night, her eldest son—Chandrabhushan Kumar—along with her middle son—Ravishankar—and a relative conspired to carry out the crime. The woman was murdered by being repeatedly stabbed with a knife and having her throat slit. Following the incident, all three accused fled the scene.
Panic spread throughout the entire locality on Thursday morning when her youngest son, Ravi Raj, discovered his mother's blood-soaked body in her room. Upon receiving the information, the Nalanda Police swung into action and launched a manhunt for the accused based on technical intelligence. During this process, an input was received indicating that the prime accused, Ravishankar, was fleeing towards Buxar and was currently traveling past Brahmapur on NH-922. The Nalanda Police immediately contacted the Buxar Police and the Dumraon SDPO, Polast Kumar, to facilitate the accused's arrest. Acting swiftly on this information, the Buxar Police mobilized their forces.
Under the leadership of SDPO Polast Kumar, a team led by Chandan Kumar—the Station House Officer (SHO) of Naya Bhojpur—set up a blockade on NH-922 and successfully apprehended the accused near Barka Dhakaich village. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Krishnabrahma Police Station, where the necessary legal formalities are currently being completed. According to police sources, preliminary investigations suggest that a property dispute was the primary motive behind the murder. It is reported that there had been long-standing tension within the family regarding the ownership of ancestral land and the house. From a psychological perspective, in a rapidly changing social landscape, economic greed and self-interest appear to be increasingly outweighing the value of human relationships. Experts believe that such horrific incidents emerge when family dialogue breaks down and material assets are prioritized over familial bonds. This incident has once again raised the pertinent question: are traditional family values and human empathy gradually eroding in modern society? Meanwhile, the police are conducting continuous raids to apprehend the remaining accused involved in the case.
