BUXAR-----------------------Atul Kumar Saini, a former Assam Rifles soldier and resident of Purana Bhojpur village in the Dumraon block of Buxar district, was shot dead in Chatra, Jharkhand. This shocking incident took place around 2:30 PM on Tuesday and was perpetrated by his own colleague—another private bodyguard. Following the incident, the police arrested the accused along with the weapon used.

According to reports, Atul Kumar Saini had left the Assam Rifles a few years ago. Subsequently, he was working as a private bodyguard for Rocky Yadav (alias Vineet Yadav), the son of Manorama Devi, the MLA representing the Belaganj constituency in Gaya district.

It is reported that on Tuesday, Rocky Yadav had gone to the official residence of Chatra Superintendent of Police (SP) Animesh Nathwani for some work. During this time, his two private bodyguards, Atul Kumar Saini and Balwinder Singh, were waiting in a vehicle outside the residence. Meanwhile, an argument broke out between the two, which quickly escalated into a violent clash.

Eyewitnesses stated that an enraged Balwinder Singh drew his service weapon and fired at Atul Kumar Saini. Atul died on the spot after being hit by the bullet. Hearing the sound of gunfire, police personnel stationed at the SP's residence rushed to the scene and, acting swiftly, arrested the accused, Balwinder Singh, along with the weapon.

The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The crime scene has been sealed, and evidence is being collected. Preliminary investigations point to a personal dispute between the two bodyguards, although the exact motive behind the murder is still under investigation.

As soon as the news of Atul Kumar Saini's death reached his native village, Purana Bhojpur, a wave of grief swept through the entire area. A crowd gathered at his home, and his family members are inconsolable.

Atul hailed from an educated and respected family. His father, Laxman Prasad Saini, works for the LIC, while his late mother, Usha Devi, served as the Sarpanch of Purana Bhojpur Panchayat from 2006 to 2011. Atul was the second of three brothers and one sister.

He married Nikki Kumari, a resident of Sahatwar in Ballia district, three years ago. They have a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter named Mahi Kumari. Atul lived with his wife and daughter in a rented house in the AP Colony area of ​​Gaya. Upon receiving news of the incident, his father immediately left for Gaya.

The police state that the matter is being investigated from all angles, and efforts are underway to ascertain the actual motive behind the murder.
