RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

BUXAR---------------------------The Buxar district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) observed ‘Black Day’ on Thursday at the local party office in Ahirauli to mark the 51st anniversary of the Emergency. During the event, ‘democracy fighters’ who had struggled against the Emergency were felicitated. Akshabar Dubey, Nikhil Srivastava, Rasbihari Dubey, Ram Binod Chaudhary, and Munna Kharwar were honored at the program.

The event was presided over by District Vice President Nirbhay Rai. He stated that June 25, 1975, marked the darkest chapter in the history of Indian democracy, when the Congress party, blinded by the arrogance of power, sidelined the Constitution and imposed the Emergency on the nation. During that period, freedom of expression was crushed as lakhs of citizens, journalists, and opposition leaders were imprisoned.

Speakers at the meeting remarked that the era of the Emergency serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding democracy. BJP leaders conveyed a message to the youth, emphasizing that the new generation needs to understand how democratic institutions were undermined. Tributes were paid to all the fighters who struggled for the restoration of democracy, and their contributions were acknowledged.

A large number of BJP workers and local public representatives were present on the occasion, including Rana Pratap Singh, Sachitanand Bhagat, Lakshman Sharma, Krishna Kumar Singh (alias Mithai Singh), Sukhdev Rai, Jai Prakash Rai, Pinky Pathak, and Ramashray Ram. The meeting was conducted by General Secretary Dhananjay Trigun. Everyone pledged to remain ever-vigilant in protecting democracy and constitutional values.
