Internet and telephone services have been shut down amid ongoing protests over the economic crisis in Iran, disconnecting people from each other. Meanwhile, Iran's exiled Prince Reza Pahlavi has appealed to US President Donald Trump for immediate intervention through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Reza Pahlavi told President Trump, "This is an urgent appeal for your attention, support, and action. You saw many brave Iranian people on the streets on Thursday night, facing bullets. Today they are facing a communication blackout. Neither the internet nor landline telephone lines are working in Iran. The Khamenei-led government has imposed a complete internet blackout in the country."
It is clear that Reza Pahlavi has appealed to Trump to be ready to intervene in Iran. He sought support from Trump through a post. He said that the people of Iran will take to the streets for protests in an hour, and this time is very crucial. The exiled Iranian prince further wrote that Khamenei, fearing the end of his criminal regime at the hands of the people, is terrified by your promise to support the protesters. He is threatening brutal repression against those who have taken to the streets. He wants to use the internet and landline shutdowns to facilitate the murder of these young heroes.
Reza Pahlavi said that he has called on the people to take to the streets to fight for their freedom and overwhelm the security forces. He did the same on Thursday night. He told Donald Trump that your threat against Khamenei's criminal regime has kept the government thugs at bay. This is a crucial time. In an hour, people will be back on the streets. We are appealing to you for help. We know you are a man of peace and a man of your word. Please be ready to intervene to help the people of Iran.
Iran indicated that its security forces would take action to suppress the protests. It also openly opposed Trump's promise to support the protesters, according to the Associated Press news agency.
Khamenei accused Trump of having his hands stained with the blood of Iranians. Footage broadcast on state television showed crowds chanting "Death to America." Iranian media later labeled the protesters as terrorists. The Iranian Supreme Leader said that the protesters are destroying their own streets to please Trump, because Trump has promised them help. Instead of all this, they should focus on their own country.
