AT THE BEGINNING OF CREATION, ONLY SRIMAN NARAYAN EXISTEED: JIYAR SWAMI

ARA----------------------------The great Indian sage and saint, Sri Lakshmi Prapanna Jeeyar Swami Ji Maharaj, shed light on the origin of creation while delivering a discourse at the Sri Lakshmi Narayana Mahayajna. He stated that at the beginning of creation, only Shriman Narayana existed in this entire universe; at that time, there was neither woman nor man.

He explained that at the dawn of creation, Lord Shriman Narayana brought the universe into existence through His *Sankalpa* (divine will or mental resolve). Some people harbor doubts regarding this matter; however, they must understand that the birth of every living being does not occur solely through the union of a man and a woman—the generation of life is possible even without a female counterpart.

Citing examples, he noted that worms often appear spontaneously inside certain fruits. Similarly, when a wound forms on the body, various types of microorganisms emerge within it. Do these creatures originate from the union of a man and a woman? Through numerous examples, he demonstrated that a marital union or the observance of marital norms is not a prerequisite for the generation of life in every instance.

Swami Ji recounted that at the beginning of creation, a lotus emerged from Lord Shriman Narayana’s navel, and from that lotus, Lord Brahma manifested. Subsequently, Brahma Ji’s four *Manas-putras* (mind-born sons)—Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara—appeared. Thus, the Lord initiated the process of creation without the involvement of man and woman.

He stated that if anyone doubts whether creation is possible only through marital norms, they should study history and the Puranas. When God wills it, He expands the universe, and when He so desires, He absorbs the entire creation back into Himself.

Swami Ji affirmed that in this world, there was no one before Lord Shriman Narayana, there is no one equal to Him in the present, and there will be no one like Him in the future. Lord Shriman Narayana governs the entire universe; *Prakriti* (Nature) is subordinate to Him, and all living beings exist under the sway of *Prakriti*.
