On one hand, electoral politics in the country is changing rapidly, while on the other hand, technology has also started playing a crucial role in shaping the direction of democracy. Anirudh Singh, a research scholar at Veer Kunwar Singh University, is engaged in understanding and examining this change. His research topic has now been selected by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), the country's most prestigious social science institution.
Artificial intelligence can improve elections in a vast democracy like India. However, its negative effects can pose a challenge to the democratic system. His research is centered around this question. Considering the seriousness and relevance of this research, the ICSSR, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has approved his topic. Along with this, Anirudh Singh will also be given a research fellowship of Rs 20,000 per month so that he can pursue his research without any financial pressure.
This achievement is especially significant because Anirudh Singh is the second student from Veer Kunwar Singh University whose research topic has been recognized by the ICSSR. This gives a new identity to the academic level and research culture of the university. Anirudh Singh is not only a researcher but also a young leader who has closely observed grassroots politics. Along with being active in student politics for the last 7-8 years, he has also contested the assembly elections. This direct experience of the electoral process connects his research to reality, going beyond theoretical knowledge.
ICSSR was established in 1969. Its objective is to encourage social science research in the country and to assist the government in policy formulation through research. Its main function is to provide financial assistance for research, seminars, and workshops in universities across the country and to provide research grants to meritorious researchers. In today's world, where elections, technology, and democracy are deeply intertwined, Anirudh Singh's research is not only of academic importance but can also prove crucial in shaping future electoral policies and the use of technology. This research, originating from Veer Kunwar Singh University, is now poised to write a new chapter in the national discourse on finding a balance between democracy and technology.
