PATNA---------------------------A major revelation emerged during security checks at Patna Airport, where three live cartridges were recovered from a passenger's handbag. The CISF took immediate action and handed the matter over to the police.
Panic ensued at Patna Airport on Thursday morning during security checks when three live cartridges of 0.8 mm caliber were recovered from a passenger's handbag. The incident occurred in the airport's Security Hold Area (SHA), where CISF personnel, displaying great vigilance during routine inspections, detected a suspicious object.
According to reports, at approximately 9:40 AM, CISF personnel stationed at X-BIS Machine-05 were scanning passengers' luggage. During this process, a suspicious object was detected inside a handbag. Immediately taking the matter seriously, the duty operator—LSI/Exe Jigyasha Kumari—ordered a physical inspection of the bag. The inspection led to the recovery of three live cartridges from the bag, causing a stir within the airport's security apparatus.
Subsequently, CISF SI/Exe Ishant Kumar, who was stationed at the scene, took custody of the bag and began questioning the passenger. During the interrogation, it was revealed that the bag belonged to passenger Masumi Syed Mohsin Ali, who had arrived at the airport to travel from Patna to Delhi on Air India flight number AI-1892. The passenger's seat number was identified as 06C (PNR: BLS93A).
During questioning, the passenger stated that he was unaware of the cartridges present in his bag and that they had been left inside by mistake. The passenger admitted his error to the security agencies and maintained that he had no prior knowledge regarding the presence of the ammunition.
According to official records, the passenger's name is listed as Masumi Syed Mohsin Ali, son of S.S. Hasan Masumi, residing at 104 Jay Raghuraj Tower, Purnendu Nagar, Phulwari Sharif, Patna, Bihar-801505. During the security check, the passenger's Aadhaar card and boarding pass were also confiscated.
Following the incident, the CISF immediately seized the three live cartridges and informed the Airport Police Station in Patna about the entire matter. Furthermore, the accused passenger, the recovered cartridges, the seizure list, the passenger's statement, and all relevant documents have been handed over to the police.
Airport security agencies have taken this incident very seriously. Officials state that carrying any type of weapon or ammunition onto airport premises constitutes a legal offense, even if done inadvertently.
Currently, the Airport Police Station is actively investigating the case. The police are also examining how these cartridges ended up in the passenger's bag and whether any other individual might have played a role in the incident. In the wake of this event, security arrangements at the airport have been further tightened, and all passengers are now undergoing additional screening.
