ARA----------------------------On the occasion of Vijayadashami, a 25-foot-tall effigy of Ravana was set ablaze at the historic Ramlila Maidan in Ara, Bhojpur district. The traditional ceremony drew thousands of devotees, creating an atmosphere filled with chants of “Jai Shri Ram.”
Sonu Rai, RJD MLC from the Ara-Buxar local body area and chairman of the Ramlila Committee, along with other committee members, shot arrows to ignite the effigy. As flames engulfed the figure, the entire ground resonated with celebratory slogans. Families, youth, and elders participated enthusiastically in the event.
Before the burning, Ramlila artists performed scenes from the Ramayana, captivating the audience. More than 10,000 people attended the programme. The traditional observance conveyed the message of the triumph of good over evil, truth, and righteousness. People exchanged Vijayadashami greetings, reinforcing community bonds through this age-old cultural celebration.
