BUXAR--------------------------A family that had left home with hopes of medical treatment was plunged into mourning shortly thereafter. On Saturday afternoon, on NH-319 near Mathiya village—under the jurisdiction of the Dinara police station in Rohtas district—a speeding pickup truck loaded with fodder rammed violently into a tempo.

The collision was so severe that an uncle and nephew traveling in the tempo died on the spot, while five others sustained serious injuries. Chaos and grief gripped the village of Basudeva Bind Dera as soon as news of the accident arrived. The deceased have been identified as Shri Bhagwan Bind (62) and his nephew Harendra Bind, both residents of Basudeva Bind Dera. It is reported that Shri Bhagwan Bind had been suffering from an ailment.

On Saturday, his relatives were taking him to Gaura in a tempo for treatment; other family members and villagers were also on board. Near Mathiya village, a speeding pickup truck loaded with fodder—approaching either from the front or the rear—violently rammed into the tempo. Pandemonium ensued at the scene following the crash. The tempo was wrecked, and all its occupants were caught in the accident. The driver, Lakhendra Chaurasia, along with Manji Chaudhary, Sunil Prasad, Krishna Devi, and Kiran Devi, sustained serious injuries. Locals immediately pulled the injured out and informed the police about the incident.

Dinara Station House Officer (SHO) Dharmendra Prasad stated that Shribhagwan Bind and Harendra Bind died on the spot. The police have taken possession of the bodies and initiated the necessary procedures; the bodies will be handed over to the families once the formalities are complete. Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended on Basudeva Bind Dera following the simultaneous deaths of an uncle and his nephew from the same village. The atmosphere is heavy with the wailing of grieving family members. Joy turned to mourning the moment news of the tragedy reached the home from which they had set out with hopes of medical treatment.
