ARA---------------------------While claims are often made about replacing transformers within hours, the people of Ramdatahi village have been enduring a power crisis for nearly three months.
Frustrated by the persistent disruption in electricity supply, the villagers' anger boiled over on Sunday morning. A large number of residents took to the Shahpur-Karnamepur main road near Ramdatahi village and staged a vigorous protest, blocking traffic.
The blockade led to long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the road, completely disrupting traffic flow. Expressing their resentment against the Electricity Department, the protesters demanded a permanent solution for the village.
Villagers state that the power supply situation in the village has been dire for about three months. Frequent transformer burnouts or malfunctions result in power outages lasting several days at a time.
Although power supply resumes after the transformer is repaired, it breaks down again within just a day or two.
Consequently, villagers and consumers are facing immense hardship amidst the humid heat. The lack of electricity is affecting not only households but also small businesses and daily activities.
The villagers reported that they had repeatedly informed Electricity Department officials and engineers about the issue, yet no permanent solution has been implemented so far. Their frustration mounted as the situation remained unchanged despite repeated complaints.
On Sunday, people's patience finally ran out amidst the heat and humidity. Agitated villagers blocked traffic by parking vehicles on the road and protested against the department. The blockade caused long queues of vehicles to form on both sides of the Shahpur-Karnamepur main route.
The villagers demanded the installation of a higher-capacity transformer and the assurance of an uninterrupted power supply. Villagers state that a permanent solution must be found for the recurring problem of transformer breakdowns.
They warned that if a permanent solution to the power crisis is not implemented soon, the agitation would be intensified.
